As part of the growing influences of the recently renamed Conflict Coaching and Consulting, PLLC we will be releasing a new first of its kind publication–Conflict Coaching: Beyond Anger Management. Our organization believes that the concept of anger management has been too restrictive and therefore is seeking to create a new discussion on the source of and resolution of anger and conflict. For too long anger management has been viewed as an option only for the criminal mind. The perception has been reinforced by the media. However those of us who have been in the conflict management industry for some time know that anger and conflict touches us all and is a normal problem that often just needs some management. This book will be appropriate for all groups however for those who seek conflict management in a one on one private setting with the aid of a coach they will find this publication very helpful. Stay tuned.

The consumer may be mislead into believing that doctors, psychologist and mental health clinicians have the knowledge and skill to deal with anger management problems. The reality is that this is not necessarily the case. The discerning consumer should ensure that anyone they visit regarding anger management problems should have a certification in anger management.

No matter how many years I practice as a mental health professional I am stuck that it is my clients that teach me the most about life. I have known for a long time that anger is learned and hence can be unlearned but some years ago one of my clients took the brave step to search out the truth about where her anger originated. This story has stayed in my mind until today. This client decided to confront her aunt who raised her and who she knew was the source of her anger. She used the communication skills she learned in anger management class to ask her where her anger came from and in a rare moment of familial vulnerability this aunt told of her learned aggressiveness from her mother.
In an instant this client described fearing that her children would be fourth generation prone to anger. She realized that it was her responsibility to stop this trend before it became a reality for her children. Anger management classes from that point was no longer only about her but became more about her family legacy....

In the face of an annoying situation it is easy to say he/she made me do it. One looks at the other person as the source of all your anger. Whether it is for a few minutes or a life time an individual can focus on another human and blame them for every ounce of rage that they hold. This perspective on anger is easy but highly destructive. This approach is void of personal responsibility and allows the angry party to focus their attention away from themselves. Destruction comes when the angry party begins to feel justified enough to deliver angry words or physical aggression to the other person.
Anger management is about personal responsibility. No matter what comes at us we are responsible for our reaction to that situation. In anger management class an individual learns how to deal with faulty perceptions and take responsibility for his/her own emotions and actions. Learning this skill will help to shift blame and increase personal responsibility. If you tend to shift blame and not taking responsibility...

I was asked the other day if I am not afraid to provide anger management. My short answer was no. There is this perception by many that anger management is for the lowest in society who have violent tempers. This is only a perception. I see every day people who call me because they struggle with anger. As a matter of fact only a small fraction of my many client have spent any time in jail, and if they did it was a booking only.
Anger is becoming a increasing problem for people of all walks of life. My goal is to teach skills in communcation, stress management, emotional intelligence and anger management to help clients master anger. This can be done in group or individually.

After reading the story of a man who killed his girlfriend after attending a anger management class I just had to comment once again. Anger management is not appropriate for those who are charged with or have a history of DV. As a matter of fact anger management and domestic violence are very different. All individuals who are charged with DV should be seen by those who have special training in DV. This confusion regarding DV and AM persist and as we have seem it can have deadly consequences.
All concerned should be aware that if an individual has been violent in a romantic relationship, anger management is NOT APPROPRIATE.

There is no doubt that anger management is a new but very misunderstood service. As a matter of fact the media has done more to teach the public about anger management than professional anger management providers. This has had negative consequences. It has led the public to believe that anger management is only for those who have explosive tempers. This pervasive public perception has cause those who struggle with everyday issue with anger to avoid the anger management provider because they believe that they will have to sit with “thugs and criminals” in a class. This perception is so much further from the truth.
Luckily the media blitz by Anderson and Anderson, The Anger Management Institute of Texas, Executive and Life Coaching Inc, SB Consulting, Daybreak Services and my organization Conflict Coaching and Consulting, LLC is causing a shift in public perception. In addition to those who have been mandated by the court we are now...

Something happened after 9/11 that has not been talked about much. Those of us who are specifically trained and run exclusive anger management practices experienced a rise in anger management referrals. The responsible anger management facilitator should ask the question “why?” The answers may give us clues to the origins of anger and the possible triggers.
Let me be honest, I am an immigrant to the United States and would be the first to admit that I have a magical view of the United States. It is the only place on earth where the dreams to be self-actualized is valued. It is an open society where dreams are made real for almost anyone. To inspire this kind of optimism requires an emotionally intelligent nation that sees the value of human endeavor and creates a safe and structured environment to facilitate the development of its human capital. Large portions of its citizens must have the need for food, shelter and security met. The nation must also be heavily defended so that the citizens feel they are...
